Surge is throwing the party of the year with cutting edge new acts and some of your all-time favourite performers returning, in celebration of the company’s bold new face, or more accurately bold new name! Conflux is now Surge.
Leading developer of street arts, physical theatre and circus in Scotland for seven years, the company has worked with artists, performance groups and educators at all levels of experience providing regular platforms for displaying work producing festivals, carnivals theatre showcases and masterclasses. Surge continues to be a high calibre professional development organisation and producer of innovative work, the full breadth of which will be on display at this unique gala event being held on the 120 year-old, Tall Ship on the Clyde.
Over the years Surge has worked with the most innovative performance groups from around the world, some of whom will be joining us, on the 2nd December, in an evening of thrilling stunts, eccentric performances and honouring us with some debut pieces. There will be a special edition of our Pitch scratch event, with acts in development and created from inception for the night. Surge will also be running masterclasses directed by Hilary Westlake throughout the week, culminating in an exclusive performance on the evening of Surge Festival Club. The performances will be held throughout the ship and laced through the evening while our guests, invited from every part of the industry, enjoy drinks along with live music from Orkestra Del Sol.
Alan Richardson, Director at Conflux said:
“We’re very excited about Surge Festival Club. It’s a great opportunity to bring together our accumulated partnerships and productions in street arts, physical theatre and circus. The time feels right for Surge to reflect on how street arts has developed and its bright future as part of the wider arts community and we’d like all our colleagues in the industry and fans of physical theatre to have an amazing night to remember.”
