Surge Arms Cabaret – The Final Curtain

Attend Event

A Farewell to Surge Arms – The Final Curtain!

Did you know a pub in Britain closes its doors every time it’s windy?

Ever one to fly in the face of convention, the Surge Arms is delighted to announce that with the easing of restrictions on pubs in the next few months, it will be closing down for good! But tell us why such a demise shouldn’t stir up calls for one final shebang?

One last knees up ‘fore we leave you!

For the past year, Surge has been running an occasionally weekly online Cabaret for all of them sorts that still lust for a bit of the old live performance. A rip-roaring success with thousands of punters having come through their own doors to watch an evening of pay-what-you-can physical theatre, comedy, dance and the occasional (and optional) fitness video.

To make absolutely sure that our farewell to the Surge Arms goes out with a bang, we’ve recruited some of our favourite acts from the past year, expertly blended with some enticing new performances to round things off. For our final event on Thursday the 1st of April, we are overwhelmed with delight to welcome to the stage:

Pauline Phitness – Home Workout videographer extraordinaire! Winner of the 1986 World Squat Championship!

Nicolette Macleod – Cinematic folk songstress! Forging art where urban life, nature and stories join!

Steve Vertigo – He’s refusing to go home but it wouldn’t be the same without him! Its stand-up specialist Steve Vertigo!

The Teacher – Lewis Sherlock returns with his inimitable physical theatre, contorted into the confines of a laptop screen!

Straight Face – The unemployed host of the Late-Night Straight-Faced Talk show makes a desperate attempt to remain relevant!

We’ve hoovered all the e-crisps out the carpet and wiped down all surfaces in preparation for what will be, we hope, our final ever Surge Arms Cabaret. It’s our last ever get-together, and if you aren’t busy of a Thursday night, we’d beg you to join us in one last pinnacle of online cabaret. The great culmination of a year in lockdown. Take the phone off the hook, grab a bag of pork scratchings and settle on down for the final ever zoom-based theatre event from the Surge Arms Cabaret!

The 1st of April, the day of fools.
9 o’clock, on the dot.
