Surge is looking for a percussionist with an interest in physical performance for its upcoming performances of Beautiful Bones. The position involves working with a professional physical performer (Melanie Jordan) to lead a group of community performers as a musical and physical ensemble during the performances. The group will be directed musically by Stephen Deazley and physically by Alan Richardson.

Beautiful Bones is an outdoor theatrical and musical pandemonium for street performers, massed mixed ability trombone orchestra, a brass band and sound design. The position is ideal for up-and-coming musician/ performers.

Beautiful Bones unmasks a western cultural attitude towards our own mortality that tends towards avoidance, taking inspiration from world cultures that embrace and celebrate death as an integral part of life, e.g. the theatrical irreverence of Mardi Gras, the darkly comic undertones and dramatic colour of The Day of the Dead celebrations, and the abandon of the pagan festivals of Beltane and Samhain.
